The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) presents an existential threat to the world via its Artificial Intelligence (AI) and 5G agendas. Combining 5G technology with big-data AI capabilities allows for an exponential expansion of power in the hands of any government that wishes to exert extreme Orwellian control over its citizens and its own officials.

According to research conducted by The AI Organization, companies such as Huawei, Sensetime, Megvii Face++, DJI, Didi Chuxing, Alibaba, and Baidu in collaboration with Western tech companies have extracted biometrics for an estimated 6 billion people, out of the total world population of 8 billion. The collection has occurred through espionage, forced tech transfers, investments, mergers, open-source sharing, and R&D collaboration. This large volume of biometric data – such as facial and voice recognition –  can be used to spy, track, capture, and arrest citizens, with the support of drones, machines, and robotics within the AI-5G network in and outside of China.

Currently, the CCP is actively building its AI-5G surveillance infrastructure, using years of training provided by Western tech companies. The infrastructure utilizes Dahua and Hikvision cameras, Huawei 5G systems, and emerging facial recognition technologies. This technology can decode, track, and monitor those considered dissidents by the Chinese government. The results can be seen in the 24-7 police state created in Xinjiang, where between 1 and 3 million Uyghurs, Kazakhs, and other Turkic Muslims have been held in massive "reeducation" camps.

The Chinese AI-5G network is already being weaponized by the government in order to control and monitor its own citizens. It significantly enhances the state's merciless crackdown on religious believers, including Tibetans, Falun Gong Practitioners, Christians, Uyghurs, and others.

The Coalition to Advance Religious Freedom in China has sent a letter with 41 signatures to 13 U.S. and global tech companies, asking them to reevaluate their terms of business with the Chinese surveillance state, and requesting a meeting with coalition members. To date, none of them have replied.

The world must continue to expose the Chinese communist regime's shocking human rights abuses. The China Coalition and The AI Organization call upon U.S. tech companies to confront the role they have played in aiding repression. Further, the Coalition calls upon democratic governments to take action to cut off this assistance to Chinese Communist Party's continued exploitation of technology to suppress freedom of religion and belief in China and around the world.
